FO Fingerless Mitts

Image
Project Details:  My friend Julie asked for a pair of fingerless mitts.  Her request was as if they are hard or a pain in the butt to make.  I was pretty happy for a fast simple knit.  I used V anilla Fingerless Mittens pattern.  I started on October 21st and finished on the 26th.  There was no gauge which I found strange and they came out a bit big I think.  But, hopefully Julie can block them to her size.  I used ~ 160 yards of Worsted weight yarn.

FO Jaywalker Socks

Image
Project Details: I started this pair on September 7th and finished on October 15th.  I'm keeping one and sending the other to my buddy!

Funky Z Hat

Image
Someone gave me their grandmothers yarn.  I decided to make Zooey a funky hat.

Tour de Sock 2017

Image
Well I did the Tour de Sock this year.   I have never done a knitting competition and I was a bit surprised at how it went.  In the end I did not knit the last pair.  They were not something I would ever wear or want to knit.  Only ~30 people world wide finished the last pair.  Here are the socks I did make and I'm pretty happy with them!

FO Hitchhiker Scarf

Image
Project Details: started on August 3rd and finished on the 23rd.  This is one of my favorite travel projects!   I'm a bit surprised on how the colorway came out.  I wasn't expecting the color really.  Size 5 needles and you should make one!

FO Almondine Socks

Image
Project Details:  These are the first pair of socks I cast on when I got back on the sock knitting wagon!  I used Hedgehog Fibres yarn (which is so soft and amazing) and this pattern .  The pattern worked out well for a hand dyed yarn and so easy to knit up!  Started on October 24th 2016 these have been my traveling socks.  I wanted to finish them up before the tour de sock starts!! The only this strange about the yarn is the difference in color.  One sock looks more pink and the other more orange.

FO Modern Rib Hat

Image
Project Details: Started on March 25 an finished on the 27th.  Crazy fast knit with my favorite Spud & Chloe yarn.  The pattern is a free pattern on Ravelry!  I only used ~125 yards worth of yarn.  I'm using the rest to make an adult hat for me!

Interweave

Image
I have gotten interweave for over a decade.  A long long time.  And this is my last issue.  It no longer holds the draw it once did.  I don't find myself rushing to knit stuff.  I'm sad the relationship is over ... but happy to see if I can find a new magazine to fall in love with.  RIP Interweave.

FO Mits

Image
Project Details:  This pattern was not what I was hoping for.  So, I modified it.  I cast of 3 sts and added 3 for the thumb hole.  I had gauge and yet these things are so small my kid can wear them.  Took me 2 days and I'm so unimpressed with them.  BLAH!

FO Elephant Spring Dress

Image
Zooey told me her elephant needed a spring dress.  So, this is the one I went with. Project Details:  Started on April 24th and finished on the 30th.  I didn't work on it non-stop.  It is a little cupcake dress that is a free pattern on Ravelry.  I went up one size needle from the last knit and think next time I might go up one more.  I used left over sock yarn.

FO Spud the Sheep

Image
Project Details:  I've wanted to make Spud for a while.  Zooey's teacher asked for a sheep, so I thought it was the perfect time to try out the pattern.  I used the Spud & Chloe yarn (which I like for stuffed animals) and size 4 needles.  I started on April 20th and finished on April 29th.  The body was the longest part of the knit (all the twists).  I did go to youtub and watch how to do them.  I really loved the pattern and how it was written!

FO Beaded Shawlet

Image
Project Details: Started on April 9th and finished on April 22.  I have tried to destash this yarn multiple times.  But the problem is I had 2 skeins and I spent $20/skein (and who wants to spend that).  So, instead of destashing I decided to look up a pattern that used all the yarn.  I found this nice shawlet .   I'm really happy with how it turned out and I think it is going to make a great holiday gift!

FO Hedgehog Fibres

Image
I have a total of 8oz of  this roving.  I only spun 4oz so far.  350 yards of sport weight.  70%  Shetland and 30% silk.  June club colorway.

FO Elephant Stuffed Animal

Image
Project Details: Started on April 4th and finished on the 8th.  The longest part of this was actually the dress.  If I were to do it again I would probably knit the dress on a 3mm needle not 2.75 (since it uses fingering weight yarn).  I used Spud & Chloe sweater yarn which worked really well.  The instructions were 14 pages long but really well written .   I think I will make some other clothing for her soon!

FO SOCK!!!

Image
Project Details:  the pattern is a simple rib called time traveler.  I started them on February 11 and finished on April 2nd.  This is my first pair of socks in years!  It felt good to work on them and even better when I split the skein to begin with.  I had no idea that just splitting the bell would make me more excited to finish the socks up!  The yarn is Northern Lights by OnTheRound and pretty nice.

FO Necklace

Image
I got this cool kit from Purl Soho and made my first necklace!

FO Messy Bun Hat

Image
Project Details: A friend really wanted one of these messy buns hat.  I do love to knit for folks when they really want something - so I had no issues doing it.  Fast knit.  Started on March 18th and finished on the 19th.  I used a bulky alpaca yarn (which is really soft).  Now to ship it!

FO First Ever Handspun Sweater

Image
Project Details: I started this project on August 1st 2016 and finished on March 14th.  I picked it up and put it down.  I frogged and started over.  I didn't like the neck on the original pattern and re-made it.  I tried to take into consideration how this was going to drape (since it is handspun 60% alpaca and 40% silk).  I knit it a bit shorter than I would normal and blocked it to pull the lace pattern out. I am loving the weight and feel of this.  I'm still trying to decide if I want a button at the top or just let it fall open or a pin.  Ideas?

FO More Handspun

Image
This was 4 oz of silk, merino, bamboo blend.  Came out to be 260 yards of worsted weight.  I'm thinking a hat for my kiddo!

FO Handspun Sport

Image
Project Details:  this took me a while but I'm really happy with the end result.  350 yards of sport weight yarn.  Hedgehog blend of merino and nylon.  Now to knit something up with it!!

FO Bulky Jacket

Image
Project Details:  610 yards of Bulky yarn.  Purl Soho pattern .  Started on January 20th and finished on February 28th.  Fast knit but I'm unhappy with the icord edge and the overall size.

Another 3 oz

SPINNING FINALLY!

Image
It has been 2 years since I have spun.  Not my best or finest work - but I'm glad to be back on the wheel.  This was 4 oz of Hedgehog Fibre made of wool/silk blend.  Turned into 214 yards of worsted weight yarn.  Zooey wants a hat - I think I might make her one :) Now what to spin next???

FO Infant Hat

Image
Project Details: Started on January 16 and finished on the 18th.  Fun and fast pixie hat!

FO Renfrew Hat

Image
Project Details: I tested out a new yarn that I've never used before.  SoftYak DK from Rowan.  Feels great, but I'll be interested to see how it wears.   This is for a hat swap buddy and I hope she likes it.  The pattern in Renfrew .  Fast and easy knit - I did add 4 extra stitches to try and get the correct size.  Started on January 6th and finished on January 16th.   The hat is knit inside out and then flipped at the end (which means you are knitting not purling the whole thing)!
