F.O. Juliet

Image
Project Details: Started April 20th and finished April 30th. This is really a very fast knit. Only 600 yards of bulky yarn is required. I used Elann Peruvian Highland Bulky in a great blue color (Courtney's favorite). I made this for my little sister's birthday (which is coming up in May). I have some great buttons for it and it still needs to be blocked. But, I'm happy to have it off the needles. I used 10.5 US size circular needles and found that this sweaters runs a bit large (so just be warned). This is the second time I've knit this sweater (the first time was in pink for myself). Great project. Also, Methow loves wool sweaters. I had a hard time getting her off to take the photos! The real question is ... what should I cast on next????

W.I.P April 28th

Short update. This photo was taken on a blue sofa ... so the color isn't as bright as it really looks. I'm through the first repeat of lace at the bottom of Juliet. I hope to have this sweater done by the end of the weekend.

Courtney's b-day is coming quickly (May 12th) and I want to have this done and blocked by then. This is a super fast knit. The last time I made it - I think it was something like a 4 day project. I'm not working on it so solidly right now ... but it is going fast. I also noticed that I'm now knitting it, the second time, in the color that the pattern was written in. How strange is that? I picked the color because it is Courtney's favorite ... and the pattern was written for it. Here is a better photo of my almost done 2oz of handspun. Lovein' it!

What The Wheel Says.

Here is another Liberty yarn roving. I now have a small stash of roving that I'm working to spin through. Enjoying every minute of it! Sorry for the low quality of the photos. My camera isn't with me - and the cell phone sucks at taking photos. This is called Icky Thump. I'm really excited to see how it looks once it is plyed. I got 4oz and am doing 2 spools and plying them. I'm currently almost done with the first 2oz.

W.I.P April 22nd

I cast on for Snow Queen sock yesterday. It is a simple sock and will be perfect for this black yarn (I was asked to make a pair of black socks for my father's girlfriend). I figure they'll have enough detail to look pretty but they wont kill me trying to work with them. I'm one full repeat through the pattern and hope to be a large way down the leg by the end of the weekend. Fingers crossed!

I'm still working on the lace pattern. I get a row or two done an evening. Not much ... but I'm trying to keep up with it. My goal will be to finish it in this lifetime! I've cast on for Juliet. For those that read, you'll remember I did this pattern in pink a while back. This is a gift for Courtney's birthday.

F.O. Farmhouse Fannie's Socks

Image
I pulled out this kit for March Madness and just finished up the pair. I was planning on finishing them earlier. But, I'm happy to finally have them off the needles. Project Details: Started March 11th and finished April 18th. The yarn and pattern were a kit from Yarn in Durango. The sock yarn is from Farmhouse Yarns. The pattern was Fannie's Sock Pattern #56. There is a simple top to this sock and a really basic design. But, I think in the future I'm going to use the simple top on other socks.

Handspun - Superwash BFL

Image
Project Details: I split this 4oz baby into half. One half I quartered the other half I split down lengthwise instead of shorter bits. I wanted to see how it would spin up - but with this colorway I don't it made much of a deference. The roving is BFL superwash that came from Liberty's Yarn . The colorway is Moonrise. I got 315 yards from the 4oz of sport weight yarn.

F.O. Flutter Scarf

Image
Flutter Scarf is complete. The pattern is from Miriam Felton and is fantastically fun to knit. Project Details: Started March 28th and finished April 15th. Shouldn't have taken me that long ... but what can I say. Slow slow slow. The yarn is hand carded roving that I handspun from Oceanwind Knits . The scarf feels fantastic and will wear really well. I used almost all of the 477 yards I had spun up.

I've been working on the flutter scarf. I've finally got the pattern memorized (thank goodness ... So much easier than reading a pattern all the time). I'm trying to figure out how long to make it so that I don't have too much yarn left over. The flutter part seems to just eat up the yardage!

Spinning Friday!

Image
New wheel is here. We are at the race track. I'm in the RV and spinning for the first time in almost a month. Methow loves the new wheel. I do too!!!

Goodies.

My new Kromski wheel showed up today. The actual drive band did not come with the wheel ... so I'll have to pick up something this weekend. But, I'm pretty excited to get to play with it! Liberty's was having a sale - I know I don't really need yarn ... but I couldn't resist!

W.I.P - When OCD Takes Over

Thank goodness I'm not this obsessed! ">

W.I.P April 2

Jill and I cast on Cleopatra today. Both of us read and re-read the instructions to make sure that we got it perfect. It went well and we are both really happy with the progress we made. We were also excited to see that our yellows from Wooly Wonka Fibers is slightly different and just so cool compared to one another. The dye jobs are great! Here is my handspun that I've been working on the flutter scarf with. It took me a while to get into the scarf - but I'm loven' it! This was one skein of yarn that I rescued from the floor of the craft room near the fire. I just couldn't let it go! In another note I ordered a traveling spinning wheel today. It has 3 day shipping ... I'm not holding my breath - but I'd love to have something to spin on in the near future!
